Stará třešeň

Minulý týden jsem byla u maminky na návštěvě. Ukazovala mi, co zbylo ze staré třešně na zahradě. Museli ji celou pořezat, protože už byla suchá. Myslím, že jí mohlo být takových 60 let, možná víc.

Mám na ni spoustu vzpomínek. Kolikrát jsem jako malá potají lezla na střechu a ojídala první třešně, které, podle slov mého dědy, byly „ještě zelené“. Taky si pamatuju, když jsem byla ještě menší, děda stál na žebříku a házel mi třešně do košíku na zemi.

Z dědy jsem jako malá měla trochu strach. Jednou jsem s jedním klukem od sousedů lezla po štaflích a oba jsme se natahovali po třešních na stejné straně. Bum! Gravitace udělala své. Štafle se skácely na stranu a spadly přímo do mladých brambor. My taky. Nám se nic nestalo, přistání v bramborách bylo celkem měkké. Zato jsem se bála, co na to řekne děda, až uvidí zválcované bramborové natě. Už jsem zapomněla, jak to dopadlo, ale asi se na nás moc nezlobil.

Nikdy nezapomenu na pohled zeshora z vysokého žebříku. Stála jsem na samém vrcholu a dívala se kolem na naši vesnici, jedla třešně a radostně plivala pecky kolem sebe.

Tak, a je to. Třešeň si své odsloužila a nám zbydou jen pěkné vzpomínky.

Old cherry tree

I was visiting my mum last week. She was showing me what was left of the old cherry tree in the garden. They had to cut it all over because it was already dry. I think the tree might have been about 60 years old, maybe more.

I have many memories of it. How many times I secretly climbed on the roof as a child and pick the first cherries, which, according to my grandfather, were „still green“. I also remember, when I was even smaller, my grandfather stood on the ladder and threw cherries into my basket I had on the ground.

As a child, I was a bit afraid of my grandfather. Once I was climbing a stepladder with a neighbor‘s boy and we were both reaching for the cherries on the same side. Boom! Gravity did its job. The stepladder fell to the side and landed right into the field of young potatoes. We did too. Nothing happened to us, the landing in the potatoes was quite soft. On the other hand, I was afraid of what my grandfather would say when he would see the flattened potato stalks. I forgot how it turned out, but I guess he wasn’t too mad at us.

I will never forget the view from the top of the tall ladder. I would stand at the very top, looking around at our village, eating cherries and happily spitting cherry pits around me.

So, that’s it. The cherry tree has served its purpose and we will only be left with nice memories.
